Red hermit crab question

I’ve had a red hermit crab as the first cleanup crew ive ever bought over a year ago. The bad thing is I’ve noticed I can’t add any new cleanup crew to tank without him killing them. I’ve added multiple turbo snails and watched him just kill them anyone else have this problem

Yes, lots of different hermits can be problems. It's just one crab? Do you have a refugium you could move it to?

Sounds like he’s looking for a bigger shell. Do you provide additional shells for the hermits? They will kill the snails for their shells. You can buy them online for cheap or ask your LFS when you buy some stuff they might throw it in for you.

Hermit crabs are omnivorous and snails are slow and tasty.

In addition to the shell hunting, it could also be that the snails are dying and the hermit is just cleaning them up.

they are mean buggers ------ I think I have to just go a diff direction. no more hermit crabs

He sounds hungry. Keep him well fed and he will likely leave the snails alone.
