I bought these as the real deal but not so sure....experts?

Thanks!

It's hard to tell for sure, but I'd say they could be real.....The real ones have an alternating blue/red skirt under most lighting but I've seen them do weird things. The fake ones have a brownish rather than red skirt - hard to see exactly in that picture..

Hope this helps.

Surprise! I'm not a great photographer, this is as good as it gets for now

lol....I am going to say real....does the blue of the body on both sides of the ring? Does the skirt alternate, does it fluoresce blue at all times?

I never really got a great pic of my reds but did of my blues so look at this....blue is inside of ring...skirt alternates....flouresces blue

Nice! there is blue in and outside the ring, the skirts....I have to find a magnifying glass, my old man glasses can't get me that close. I bought them from a local member of our assoc. they would open and shut all day long, then they shut and stayed shut for a month, so I just kind of waited. Now that they've opened, they seem to want to stay open (but in the month of hibernation I lost 5 polpys) He sold some to a friend and the same thing happened, they didn't want to open and stay open until the 30 day mark

hmm....well hopefully they are better now. I went from 1 to 4 in 3 weeks. Might want to check water...what kind of light and flow are they under?

water is good, cal. = 430 today, alk 9.8, mag. 1400 (but the red sea pro seems to test mag. a little high so I've heard) iodine .06, nitrates between 1 - 3 PPM. I currently have a MH 2 x 150w 10k mounted (about 12") over the back part of my tank and Unique LED set over the front part with actinics at 100% on the LED set and whites @ about 50%. I moved the red hornet plug all over from under the MHs high, mid, low tank to under the LED, high, mid, low tank. They are currently under the LEDs and highly mounted and they seem to like it there. Hopefully they will go forth and multiply :) hmmmm 1 to 4 in 3 weeks, I have 13, so in 3 weeks 52! wow, just like rabbits

I hope you get that. My tank was totally geared towards zoanthids at the time.....very little didn't flourish in that tank.

I'm keeping my iodine at .06 and a little dirt in the water, some are multiplying nicely (magicians for one) some are a bit slow. Besides iodine, alk, and "dirt" what can zoanize a tank?

unless you bought them as red hornets I doubt they are, my buddy has the ones that look like yours.

No offense but you can buy wammin watermelons as untouchables and it doesn't make them untouchables.....that's why I put my ID trust in all the R2R experts :) Hey you buy some things for something they are not, and some times you buy something that appears common because you like it and it turns out to be fairly rare. I have a few nice polyps/frags, but I have to like it to buy it, then I still have something I like no matter if it's named or not. OMG kick the soap box from under me quick

Here is mine

looking at your red hornets, they also look fake. the true red hornets have alternating color in the skirt. your hornets have an all red skirt

here is a pic of a true red hornet
