I want one to help control my pods. Lately I have seen some pods the width of my pinky nail in my frag tank. Would it be ok to put a Red Mandarin in my frag tank 20G with no rock or anything for a week or two to help nock the count down then move him to my display?

I dont' see why not, as long as you have enough biological filtration.

Yea the tanks connected to my main system. I was more wondering since there is no sand or rock for it to hide, will that be ok. Or will he do fine just grazzing along with frag disks and BB.

He'll be fine, but I'd keep an eye on him to make sure he likes the larger ones. Not all of them like amphipods.

Yeah he will be fine. Sounds like he will be stoked with some easy to had meals coming his way being that the pods will def. have less of a chance of hiding due to no rock/sand.

If the pods are amphipods and too large for the mandarin, I'd recommend a pseudochromis of some sort. I have a springeri in my 22 gallon and he handles the amphipods in there with a vengeance. Its awesome watching him hunt them out and then slam them against something to crush their hard exoskeleton. Hardy as can be as well!

I don't think they eat those real big pods. But the get all the little ones.
