Red Mangrove seedlings for filtration

Saw some red mangrove seedlings for sale and was thinking about adding a few to my sump. Anyone got any thoughts on their effectiveness on filtration . Please share any experiences .. Thanks

Its hit or miss with them. Some say they grow very slow, others say you need at least 20. They supposedly could replace a skimmer, but nobody really showed the proof. Id add them just to see what happens, but wouldn't expect a miracle.

Yes they grow slow in our salinity.
They love magnesium also

from what I understand spraying the leaves with freshwater helps keep them growing as salt on the leaves can be bad for them

Too slow to depend on unless you have A LOT. Chaeto is a better bet if you're looking for nutrient-waste control.

Grow them for their beauty not to reduce nutrients as you would need a forest of them.
