Long shot here but today I was looking at my tank because I've been fighting cyano lately and finally noticing change. But while I was staring at a rock with acro growing on it I noticed a red mist come from being the rock work and quickly dissipate. Because of work I had neglected things a little and nitrates did creep up which I'm almost back where I need to be since doing 10% water changes every other day. But this red puff that blink and you'll miss it got me curious. Anyone knows what could cause it?

Without video, hard to assess but blow rock gently with a turkey baster and siphon well
Add a pouch of chemipure blue and reduce hours of white light until redness dissipates

That's the thing it's not a constant color. Think of the white haze that's temporarily there when you dose alk. Lights are on acclimation for another 20 days because I added a green kenya tree. Power heads come on blading the tank at 100% every morning to get detritus in the water column so the sock gets a chance to remove as much as possible and during this time the only dead spot is in one corner adjacent to where I noticed the mist. The only dead spot is only a guess that its the only one. Nothing seems affected but I run a lot of carbon. I don't know bro.

Probably some kind of cyanobacteria that was kicked up by a fish fin. What are your nitrates and phosphates at?

The 100% output may be distributing mulm and other sediment to cause this also to vonsider bacteria being disturbed in sand bed

Give me 2 minutes
Po3 is .05 according to Hannah. Nitrate when I checked 2 days ago was flashing 5 so obviously it was and could be high still. I know what you're gonna say but the hannah ulr test is so drawn out lol. I did do a 5 gallon water change afterwards which I've been doing every other day because of cyano which I'm pretty sure was caused by me going crazy with the coral frenzy

You have my attention because I did start to notice a good amount of detritus on the sand bed which started the 100% every morning

5 nitrates isn't high. It's not bad at all. :)
And .05 phosphorus is great
Well it's the ulr nitrate test and from what I read flashing 5 means over. I'm not sure how much because I don't have a high range. I been thinking about getting some of the test strips just to get ball park should I ever see that again.

Ah right, I missed that. I would recommend Nyos, but test strips work in this application to see if you're out of the danger zone as far as too low. It sounds like you have a plan of attack

Just checked my skimmer and it looks like it finally got some chill. For the past 4 days it's been filling up twice a day. Birds nest seem to be rebounding other coral still look OK but the goni and trumpet still closed up as of now. I'm pulling the goni and my boss is gonna hang on to it until I get things in order and I'm gonna use the trumpet as a gage for how good things are. I love my green goni.
