Have more red mushrooms then I can count, they are so out of control that they have even managed to jump into my 90. Very first coral I ever bought not knowing that someday I would be calling it a weed. Any idea how to remove.

Put kalk paste/aiptasia X in their mouth to kill or sometimes you can scrape off rocks and make a frag out of them.

Wow I cant keep mushrooms alive for more than a few weeks.

may I ask what your water and lighting parameters are:

mine are:
nitrates 20
Phosphate 1.0
Alk 10
Salinity 1.028
Temp 79
pH 8.3
Mg 1500
Ca 480

i have lots of zoas and dose iodine lugols one a week

placed in bottom of tank in shady spot, then a little brighter spot, played with flows; broadcast feed food that is “good” for mushrooms; detached from plugs, rocks, rolled away in the night as I cant see them

also tried a plastic holder to contain them

So idk???
Sure

Phosphates 0
alkaline 8.5
Salinity is 1.025

Good luck with them, I haven’t had any problems with any of my mushrooms and they all seem to be multiplying pretty well but these red ones are completely taking over lol, what type of mushrooms we tried?

Easiest solution to remove these completely is to reach into the tank, grab the rock they are on, throw it in a triple bag with some tank water, put the bag in a styrofoam box, drop that in a cardboard box, seal the box and throw a label on it with my shipping address and drop it off at UPS. 100% guaranteed solution to your problems.

I have tried diacosoma - red green blue purples, ricordias orange and mixed colours, and only auccess was a 3-4” yellow yuma which lasted for a few years

Kalk paste works. I keep kalkwasser on hand for this exact reason. You gotta get a decent amount inside the body, but if you do they will die and fall off within a day.

Keep trying. The only time I’ve ever lost mushrooms was when I moved. I lost some kryptonite mushrooms and I lost some Jason fox game changers but other than that my tanks have had no problems with any of the other mushrooms I have, And these red mushrooms are just the only ones that I’m having problems with because they are taking up valuable real estate. Keep trying

I bought a small red mushroom frag a few weeks ago. After reading this thread I'm thinking of removing it hmm....
