Red pimple like blotch on mouth

Evening all, I wonder if someone could offer some advice.

Coming towards the end of the 1st week of quarantine for my Silver Spot Tang and Regal Blue Tang. Acquired 1st October)

Noticed this evening the silver spot has a red sore like pimple on her mouth. Tough to get a good photo, she's camera shy

Salinity 1.025
Temp 23c
Nitrates 10
Ammonia 0 (Seachem Alert, yes it does work )
Copper 0.50 (Salifert, Cupramine)

50% water changes every other day.

Both fish eating well and seem happy enough.

Any advice would be appreciated, I'm fairly new to quarantine and never experienced any visual signs of disease whilst quarantining fish.

Hard to see, but I bet that is from running into something. Quarantine tanks are all "hard edges and surfaces" and the fish are always a bit nervous, so getting frightened and hitting something is pretty common. As long as it is still feeding well, I wouldn't do anything. If it develops a secondary infection, the redness will increase and the fish will not feed as well. Then, you should consider a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic. In fact, you may want to get some now to have on hand, both for this case and in the future. One option would be Kanaplex.

I agree on a collision injury , one that should heal on it own, but exercise precaution (mentioned by Jay) as we can observe, not predict outcomes in this hobby

Thanks very much guys. I did wonder whether it could've been from a collision with some of the PVC piping. It's good to hear this is likely the cause.

I'll definitely look into getting some antibiotics in hand.
