I have a jbj 28 with an outbreak. I just moved my melanurus into a 75 holding tank and plan to add everything into a 125 in spring. I was planning to get another wrasse thats compatible with the melanurus in the spring too. But if there's another wrasse that can eat those worms and get along with my fish in spring... I'd be all for that.
Any ideas??

David

What other fish do you have?

Just a couple clowns, lawnmower blenny, a couple pajama cardinals and a firefish. They are all help in 3 seperate tanks right now. I'm thinking I might want a tang, but they can be a pain from what I understand.

You should be fine to add a wrasse.

Tangs aren't a pain really IMO. I keep 8 in a 180. A single one shouldn't create any issues for you.

I do have the melanurus also. She's pretty cool, my favorite. She's actually the reason why I want a 6' tank. She swims everywhere

Very cool fish. They grow quick! Mine is one of my personal favorites as well.

What other wrasse are compatible with the melanurus? I don't want a 6 line. I heard they can be bullies.

Agreed, avoid the sixline.

Fairy and flashers will be compatible, but don't eat flatworms.

As long as the melanurus isn't too assertive, other small peaceful Halichoeres species should be fine. Biocellatus, chrysus, leucurus, melasmapomas, richmondi, timorensis, etc.

I love the fairy and flashers and definately will add some when everyone moves in to the final DT.
I think I might add the corals, one by one, into the 75 that my melanurus is in. It's just a FOWLR right now. That way she wont have to move and I can take time deciding on a wrasse for reasons other than eradicating a pest.

Melasmapomas is one of my favorites! Tough to keep though! :)

I'll look them up. Im new to this, just about 1.5 years. So all these fish are new to me. The names really help!
I freedive a lot, well not in the past 3 years here in the desert, but I always loved seeing wrasse swimming around. They are gorgeous and come to you like dogs. They get huge. Like 10lbs huge.
Lol, I was just reading through your 500g build. Thats a HUGE tank. Almost need to be built in place. I too am sitting with a bowl of popcorn for that thread!:)

I'll be working on getting my final dt ready for a mandarin. I'm hoping by spring 2020. By that time I should have enough food built into a fuge for him. Quite a while back I had a chance at a captive bred mandarin. I saw him eat brine shrimp and he was about 3/4", just a little guy. But I passed, thinking I would just abuse him with my ignorance.
