I've got a mixed reef. All the corals look great and are growing except for green milli and red planet. It was doing fine for a long time then all of the sudden is went down hill. My alk was at 7 and I've been bumping it up thinking maybe it will come back around but so far no luck. I've always had alk of between 7-8. Slowly got it up to about 9 right now and got the hanna tester for comfort. Gonna shoot for around ten as long as everything else still looks good. Not gonna sacrifice the tank for pain in the butt RP. The RP still has good color with the green still showing through but has no polyp extension, and has receded on the bottom sides. Green milli has similar problem, still alive, not receding, very small polyp extension, no recent growth. I've got a green slimmer that looks great and monitpora out the you know what. Duncans, favia, brain, and birdsnest all doing fine. I removed a large green leather cause it was letting off some residue. The only other thing I can imagine is that maybe some paly toxin is in tank from weeding out some that were around a favia. Just figured I'd start a thread in case anyone else has similar problem. I'll be updating with whatever my findings are. Were kinda like doctors in this hobby, we all practice and hope for the best. Any info or tips would be great.

Following. I have a RP that turned all red due to bright lights. Polyp extension is gone and no recession, but no growth. Wondering what is going on. All other corals growing fine.

ime RP is a pretty hardy coral. i had one lose half it's tissue due to dino suffocation just for it to bounce back after a month.
it also shows polyps sometimes, and other times no polyp extension. this doesnt mean it is sick.

if you have some tissue recession and just caught it... damage was already done for the next 2 weeks in the future ime.

7 alk wont kill a RP unless you have above-average no3/po4.

id target 8.5 alk and leave it.

but.... do as you will. gl!

Red planet started to come back around. It's not quit back to normal, still has some white spots. Green Slimer, green milli, and all other sps still have not had any receeding pproblems. My alk was going in some crazy swings and my mag had slightly dropped. The RP still has not started to regrow tissue and still doesn't have good polyp extension. That's all for now. happy reefing
