Red Planet. Is it ok or do I need to do something?

Good day fellow reefers!!

If you look at this Red Planet (how much freaking light does this thing need to turn red????) towards the left base and straight up about 2 inches. You'll see tissue like strands coming from the coral.

Is this problematic or is the coral just acting up and sliming where the new growth happens to be?

Started happening shortly after replacing my new MH bulbs.

Insight would be great.

I really don't think so. Things have great coloration and everything is growing. Good polyp extension.

I replaced the bulbs at 9 months, so the new ones were brighter. I have some additional color in the colony, but these few places just have this "stuff" and I can't figure it out. I'll take another pic when I get home and see if I can't get a little closer

Colony is located right side just outside of hot zone (4inches) and 6 inches under the surface with fixture 6-8 inches above that.

Could it be a feeding response when I'm feeding my fish?

I am not quite sure what sliming I am looking at in the picture. Sliming can occur for many reasons, but mostly due to some irritation and not feeding response. Red Planet is not supposed to need extreme light at all. I have mine lower in the tank with 250 W DE Phoenix bulbs and it is red with some other yellowish hues.

Interesting, yes probably. Very rare event in my reefs though.

do you dose trace elements, your tank might be just lacking postassium.

It seems to happen closest to new growth. And when I feed my tank. Wasn't aware Red Planet did this.

Deff when i feed i spray my sps with the juices from all my frozen foods and they come out like crazy , not sure if its a good thing or a bad thing but its ben happening to me for 3 years =)

Another thing imo my red planet turnes all greenpurple wit slight reddish tips from 220 par to 280 , mixed green and red 300 to 350 and above that allllll red

Thanks for the details. I would think that they are in at least 350 par being 250 20k MH a foot above them, but I really need to get a par meter and check it for myself.
