Red Planet White Tips

I've never had luck with Red Planet frags, but I traded some hammer and acro corals for a large piece of Red Planet and am trying again. I figure a larger colony will have a better chance of survival.
Parameters:
Ca - 450
Alk - 7.3
Mg - 1290
PO4 -.04
NO3 - 0-5

I've had the red planet about half way up in the middle of my tank horizontally for about 2 weeks. There are three Rapid LED onyx lights on the tank. The end LEDs units are 60 degree optics and the middle unit is 100 degree, so less direct intensity.

I've noticed that some of the tips on the red planet are white and have no polyp extension. it isnt all the tips, but where it has them, the tissue has been receding slowly. Not sure if its getting stung or just doesnt like the water parameters or is not in the right place. The other corals all are doing well, even prostrata and millipora.

What test kit are you using for alk? I would try and get a second test.

I use Hanna and salifert to confirm

The montis look a bit off to me as well. Are you running any gfo, bio pellets?

If it does its normal its grow out the color will come in later as it keeps growing

My red planet is white where it is growing then colors up in a few weeks as well

Growth, there's nothing to fix about it she loves it and it's growing up

I've had lots of experience with Red Planet in the past. Yes, when they are growing quickly the tips will be whitish. Depends on how fast they are growing and what type of lighting you're using. If you want to keep the deep red and the green, they need lower intensity light. They will turn all pink/red when the light is too strong.

I agree with everyone here, sounds like it's growing! Mine have white tips where it's rapidly growing. Here's a picture of mine with some white tips because it's growing like a champ right now.
