I am wondering if this is bleaching or growth. With the lights on it’s pink tips but with lights out the tips look white.

All sps look dead or dying with the lights out. Thats why its not a good idea to look at your tank at that point because you start freaking out or second guessing something new you trying to do/improve. SPS need to be looked at with lights on to inspect there overall health, color, polyps extension etc...

Always best to post your current tanks parameters too when trying to ask questions about corals, as it could give those looking to help a better insight if there was actually a problem.

Something is a miss. I would check the piece for red bugs. Looks like it's browning out as well. This acropora will take and do well under lower lighting mid way in the tank under the average fixture.

Alk- 8.5
Cal- 390
Mag- 1320
Nit-2
Pho- 0
Sal- 1.026

And the top picture is just the whites on, no blues on, so it’s not full strength either. Just put on to take a picture to show nothing wrong with lights on.

Corals look terrible under normal light, don't do it.

I use a very bright LED flash light to inspect for pest when I buy/dip/transfer corals to see them better but that's it.

Could be burnt tips caused by high par. What kind of lights are you running and how high up is the coral in the tank? Also check out dana riddles coral growth, there's a good section about high par causing burnt tips

High par or low nutrients in the tank. Ive recently came across a problem in my 220 where I had 0 nitrates and .04 phosphates and my corals started loosing color. I started dosing sodium nitrate and its made a world of difference. Sps colonies are looking better than they ever have.

Instead of dosing you could feed more. I'm sure the fish would enjoy/benefit from that:)

True story! I looked at my tank one morning and thought my red planet had RTN'd overnight. I quickly got the lights on and realized it was just how it looked with the lights out. Who doesn't like getting their blood pressure juiced bit first thing in the morning? :)

Good point! What are your phosphate removal procedures?
I have a HUGE tumbling ball of cheato in my fuge. I also dosing 2.5ml day of RedSea NoPoX to keep both nitrate and phosphates down. With using the NoPox the skimmer does a heck of a job pulling out a lot. Dosing the NoPox along with having the cheato in place I can feed properly along with dose Sodium Nitrate and not worry about over dosing the tank. Nitrates currently 0 with phosphates at .037 (Hanna Phosphorus checker). I upped the dosage of the nitrates slowly over the passed week, each day, and have seen a great response from all my corals.

Are you liking NoPox then? I have a diy denitrator for nitrates and gfo chaeto and a small weekly dose of phosphate rx to manage phosphate for my 65 reef. But my new 300 I want to incorporate NoPox if it really does what it says

SB reef light 32” timer. Half way up in breeder. Blues at 20% and whites at 5% 10 hours blue and 2 hours white to acclimate

I think the NoPoX has been great with taking everything down and keeping it there. Between that and the cheato it's been awesome. On the 220 I've also started the KZ Coral Program so no water changes either. If I do end up doing one it's only 5g and that's just to suck out anything on the sump area. I started the KZ program about three weeks ago now.

Apex par meter reads max of 115 at bottom of tank about below where red planet is

Glad to hear! Im a big advocate for no water changes as long as your nutrients are in check. Makes for a much more stable environment.
