I'm curious if anyone has tried keeping traditionally fresh water nerites (specifically red racers) to a marine tank. In the wild they go between fresh and marine water, but it's hard to find info about anyone actually keeping them long term in marine tanks.

I have some coming in a few days because I'd like to try breeding them (I know they're a pain to breed, but I have multiple fresh, brackish and reef setups so I figured what the heck I'll give it a go) and I was just curious if anyone has experience letting them exist in marine water after they've been properly acclimated to it (I also don't have anything like crabs in the tank that would bother them). For now I'm just going to take them up to brackish and let them be with my opae ula but full marine would be more convenient in the long run.

Thanks :)

I'm not too sure. I've heard of them in brackish tanks but not full saltwater.

If I don't hear anything definitive back and I'm able to get them to breed I might leave some of the young'ns to grow up in my reef tank just to see what happens (and I'll update this thread or post a new one). I considered getting some less 'fancy' freshwater nerites to try and acclimate to full salt but decided I have too much nonsense going on for that.

Well good luck, I'm very interested in seeing how this turns out!
