What do your guys think? The island look or just arches and caves? Is this too much rock or too high? First saltwater tank (red sea 170 max) so any advice is appreciate. Thanks! The cardboard shows the sides of the tank so it’s not perfect. Just wanted to see a preview and play with designs. The island would be for future coral that would just stay on that rock

I just finished scaping my 50 gal cube and have had similar concerns as you...
Too much rock? I have about 55 lbs dry rock in there and 2 diff. tallest points at about 2-3" below water line. I've tried to optimize habitat for my anticipated livestock; going bare bottom so lifted the rocks up off the floor with "feet," made a smaller footprint to the larger structure. I figured this would help with flow and detritus.

My scape goals were to create depth, caves and swim throughs, hiding places. Hoping that I have created several different "levels" of PAR availability from top to bottom and allowing for sufficient flow. I have about 2" behind the rocks to clean the back center overflow. There's about 1.5-2" clearance on the side glass. I also wanted to leave open areas up front to place encrusting corals and some small colony rock of zoa.

I think your first aquascape picture looks cool. I like the island, particularly if you want to have a coral colony that would be better separated from the larger structure. ie: zoas or hammers for example...

Here's mine:
