Red Sea 225 micron Felt or Thin-Mesh filter sock?

The Red Sea Reefer 750 XXL and all other Reefer tanks come with 225 micron Thin-Mesh filter socks.

My tank is 2 months old now. I want to purchase replacements filter socks so I can swap and clean the first set. Should I continue with the Thin-Mesh or change to the traditional Felt filter socks?

The felt socks are a real pain. They plug fairly quickly and are hard to clean. I mostly use the thin-mesh bags and swap in a felt bag once in awhile in my 170, but I only have one filter sock compared to you with multiple socks. The mesh bags I can rinse out in 2 mins, the felt ones are hard to turn inside out to clean. I have not tried it out yet, but I purchased on of those new filter cups that fit in the reefers and can be filled with different filter media. I, like a lot of people, am getting sick of cleaning filter socks.

I'm there with you. The thin-mesh are very easy to clean. I've touched the felt on at my LFS and it feels like thick cotton.

I picked up set of both. I like using the felt ones when Im vacuuming the sand or doing something else that's messy. Mesh socks are good if you have little detritus or if you are changing every day or two. That said, I still prefer the felt socks.

My tank is about 2 months old with a four small fish and cuc. I'm cleaning the filter socks once a week which takes about 5 to 10 minutes. I can see where the felt socks are better.

I have Reefer 350 and I accidentally ordered the felt socks and really didn’t like them. I change out my mesh socks maybe twice a week. I have 6 sets and they’re really easy to clean.

I like the felt socks as well, I feel they are better at keeping your tank clean and only require a little rinse and soak in a bucket of warm water and a little bleach for 24 hours and wala! Brand new looking
