Red Sea 260 sump query

We have a red sea 260l on order without the sump. I would still like to stock an ato. If we go for the sump what skimmer, pump should we add? If we don’t install the sump should we still have an Ato? If so what one in the uk?

If you go with the sump conversion kit it comes with a gravity-fed ATO (the slender glass reservoir sitting above the filter socks in the left image). Note that you still run both of the included pumps (the ones attached to the green hoses in the right image). I'd definitely look at the sump as a "must have" because it literally gives you so many more options.

For skimmers I'd probably just get a Red Sea RSK-300 skimmer. For a return pump, I'd look at the Sicce SDC 6.0 WiFi/controllable pump (this has Apex compatibility should you ever add an Apex down the road). This is rated for 1450 Gph @100%, but taking into account vertical height it will be closer to 725 Gph. You'll want between 210-350 Gph flow for your tank at a minimum, so I'd start somewhere between 35-45% in terms of speed.

As an alternative, you might be further ahead with the Reefer 250 G2 model. It's essentially the same system size, dimensions and is ReefMat ready (unlike the Max E-260).

Leave it as is. Works fine without a sump.

I have that same that blaxsun posted sump in my Red Sea Reefer 250. I do find that the ATO only holds 2 gal and you need to check it often. it does leave some nice space to the right to build yourself a control board.
