Hello everyone, I recently decided that I want to hard plumb my tank, but I'm a noob when it comes to plumbing. Some people offered to do it for me for about $150-200 + the cost of the supplies, but I want to try to do it myself ot save money for my aquarium top.

Anyways, I have a Red Sea 350, I've spent hours looking at videos and looking through forums with no real success. So here I am asking the pros.

Here is a look at what I want to do:

I have a list of equipment that I think would work, but I'm not sure. I also have the Vectra M1 for my return pump. I basically want to do all the main plumbing with gates and do the reactors last. I'm just not sure if 1inch pvc would work on my m1, and I just don't know what to use to connect directly to my Red Sea 350 at the end.

List:
*1/2" PVC Socket Gate Valve Spears 2022-005 ***this would connect from the 1inch 40 PVC 90 Elbow to the reactors**

*1/2 in. x 5 ft. Furniture Grade Sch. 40 PVC Pipe in Blue ***Reactors pvc which would connect from the socket valves to the reactors**

*1 in. x 5 ft. Furniture Grade Sch. 40 PVC Pipe in Blue **main pvc from vectra to Red Sea plumbing**
Model #P001FGP-BL-5

1" Schedule 40 PVC Tee - Socket x Socket x Socket (401-010) **These would connect from the main 1inch pvc to the gate valves***

1" Sch 40 PVC 90 Elbow Soc 406-010 **For the 1in pvc to make turns**

Also, what are these for ? I see people using them all the time

These would be my reactors, for carbon and GFO, I need two.

Thanks in advance... really appreciate the help, I hope this helps people in the future.

Thanks for the reply, do you know where I'd be abe to get the socket or spigot from 1" to 1/2"? I can't seem to find any.

Thank you, you're a beauty. :D I was also hoping you could possibly get me out of a hole. Do you know if the 1" T's will fit the 1"PVC? Or do I need to buy a bit bigger T's to make sure the PVC fits inside them. Also, what's the difference between schedule 80 and schedule 40?

Schedule 40 and 80 can use the same fittings. The difference is the wall thickness (80 holds more pressure) but both have the same outside diameter.

Have you put together a diagram of your system?

Thank you everyone for the replies, I updated some of the list of items, but can't edit my post. I changed tubing to 3/4" since that's the output of the vectra m1, I heard 1" would be better for more flow, but I think 3/4" will do just fine to power my Red Sea 350, 2 reactors and a chaeto reactor. As I said, I want to do the basic structure for now, then plumb the reactors in the future after the main plumbing is done. I'm having my ATO reservoir drilled and turned into a chaeto reactor which would be plumbed into since I'm having a 10g reservoir made for ATO.

Not sure what kind of diagram I should of done, but this is what I did:

Any updates? I would love to see how it turned out! :) We are currently cycling our 350 and I am checking out everyone's cabinets! :) Have a great day, Ellen

I just my 350 and started the hard plumbing work, i'll post pictures in just a bit to show you how it looks dry fitted.

Havnt decided if this is the final design yet, but I have the gate valves and planning to put two reactors in.
