Red Sea 450 hard plumbing

I’m in the process of getting a new sump setup for my Red Sea 450 and I’m kind of stuck on how I should plumb it. Has anyone plumbed their Red Sea tank? If so how would they recommend me do it?

It really depends on what sump you are doing and how it's laid out compared to where the Red Sea bulkheads exit the bottom of the tank. But it's really as simple going from point A to point B. Start at the return pump and keep cutting pipe and adding elbows until you get to the return assembly at the bulkhead. You will need to purchase 2 additional Red Sea return assemblies if you are changing the drain and emergency drain.

I intend on hard plumbing the whole thing so I would need 3 new ones right? And after the assemblies did you have to convert the connections? Did you go straight to Red Sea to buy them? Thank you in advance for the help!

You only need to purchase 2 additional ones, as you already have the return one that came with the tank. So you will essentially have a return assembly hanging off of all three bulkheads. You will simply remove the Red Sea barbed fitting from the Red Sea return assembly. The barbed fitting is threaded in place. Once you remove it from the assembly, you can replace it with one of PVC adapters below to convert over to PVC pipe. NOTE: since the Red Sea thread is metric, you will want to use about 12-15 wraps of the white Teflon tape to get a proper seal. Do not over tighten the fitting... just thread it in until it's snug or bottoms out.

For 3/4" pipe:

So i got the fittings like you said and glued it all together. Now for some reason the fitting from Red Sea wont seal and I’m getting a drip.

Did you ever end up getting that fitting made that would directly fit?

I did not, it was going to be way too expensive. Now that I am selling my current plumbing setup and have the tank drained, I think I have another idea that will be a great solution. However, it won't be just an easy adapter.
