Hi everyone!! We currently have 3 tanks that we want to move into one large tank. We’re looking at Red Sea 750 but we’re concerned that our fish will be too big once they reach full size. Here’s the livestock we currently have:

Naso Tang
Fox face
Yellow tang
Hippo tang
Tomini tang
Valentini puffer
2 clowns
1 BTA
Royal gramma
6 line wrasse
Gem tang

I want to add a black tang, purple tang, Achilles tang.

So question is.... is the Red Sea 750 big enough once they all reach max size or do I go custom??

If that is the 160gl 750 then you already have too many tangs at max size. you probably need to look at 300gl plus to add any more.

Edit
I see that the 750 also shows 200gl but that isn't big enough for full size tangs except for maybe the smaller species but still only a cpl of those. Others may disagree.

Ya 7 or 8 tangs is a bit much for that tank , then again look at hot rocks the moderators stock list . It's insane personally

I will be keeping 5 Tangs in my 750 XXL and that is the limit I was given by my LFS owner, (he literally wont sell me anymore) unless I get a bigger tank. They are all rated for within my tank size or less according to Live Aquaria except for my Blue Hippo and Achilles that are rated slightly higher at 180 Gallons, (but the dimensions of the tank are the same). Here are the Tangs I have along with max size and recommended tank size.

2-Spot Bristletooth Tang - 8 " - 70 Gallons
Achilles Tang - 8 1/2" - 180 Gallons
Blue Hippo Tang - 12" - 180 Gallons
Powder Blue Tang - 9" - 125 Gallons
Purple Tang- 10" - 125 Gallons

I think 8 Tangs is a bit too many Tangs to keep in a 750 XXL and the one in particular, (that you already have) is the Naso Tang that could get up to 18" and the reason I do not have one. If you want all those Tangs, I would go with a at least a 250 gallon or bigger.

Most of those fishes can individually fit. Any in the Naso genus will outgrow a RSR 750, and the hippo will arguably get too large as well.
My fear is...that is an awful lot of Zebrasoma spp tangs, and they don't always mix well.

I would look into a standard 240 (8x2x2). That would be better for the Naso, hippo, and probably the Achilles.
