Hi, new to dosing so please excuse my ignorance. Alkalinity is a little low. Problem is I'm a tad colorblind and cannot figure/see the stopping point of the test. Tried different lighting/white background and I'm getting anywhere from 7.3 to about 8.7. Never really turns the same green as the card/sample end point and it does turn yellow if I add to much. It stalls in green for quite a few drops which is why I'm unsure what my reading is.

Also have the Red Sea Alkalinity B(liquid) and trying to dose manually for 60 gallons over about 4-5 days to reach the proper level. A little(OK A LOT) confused how I read the charts. Say I'm at 7.3, how do I figure the amount needed and what should it be for Acropora minimum/max?

Going to have a friend help with the color so I can get the Alkalinity reading right, confused there after, I know I'm going to be like Duhhh that was easy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hold the vial and card side by side, and compare to the green color target on the card. Yes it'll be green for several drops, but usually I can find the drop when the green goes from bluer than the target, to on target, to yellower than the target color.

If color remains an issue, search DIY alk test, for a simple accurate method by reading a pH meter.

I use this to calculate my dose:

Been reading a lot of other posts and just don't get it.

I have the liquid RS alkalinity. Once I find out where the alkalinity is at. What's the next steps? What formula or numbers do I use to determine what I need to add?

I feel stupid but the reading I have been doing shows others have the same questions. Answers they are given says the same as the instructions. I'M LOST and need to get Alkalinity in check ASAP.

Don't have anyone to show me and I have not found one video that shows step by step process/calculation and then the dosing.

Duhhh, that was easy.... I figure it out, was tired and for some reason thought I had to mix the liquid solution B with water. Also did not see the Red Sea B liquid on the calculator. Nothing was making sense. Confirmed with a buddy that I wouldn't be dosing too much(math) once I knew B was pre mixed.

I wasn't really able to get confirmation on the color change by someone yet. Tested again and think I'm going to stop the test soon as it changes green. I got about 6.5 dkH and used about .46, then just to see, kept adding to around .52ml(if I remember correctly) when it turned yellow.

Went lower on the first dose(daily max) to be safe then will over the next 4-5 days get it to 11-12 dkH.
