Red Sea Calcium reagent precipitation

Any seen this before? Test kit is not expired, in fact it's pretty new, and it wont re-dissolve. The test kit appears to be pretty accurate still based on my recent ATI ICP and Triton ICP. I feel like I shouldn't use it though. None on the bottom really just floating up top

Thoughts?

Yup I had it in one of my calcium reagent bottles. Figured I had gotten a drop of something in it that reacted, but not sure. Makes it a pain to draw up reagent into the syringe.

For me it hasnt interfered as it floats at the top so i just pull out of the middle or bottom, however if it was contaminated etc we probably shouldn't be trusting the results. The only way I can imagine the reagent is still ok is if we can say with 100% certainty that whatever went in precipitated out and it's still pure homogeneous reagent everywhere else, which I doubt.

I'm trying to avoid having to buy another refill kit though lol. As you can see it's basically full!

I also have no idea how I could have gotten anything in there. I where nitrile gloves and am super careful during testing. I discard left over reagent instead of squirting it back in there as well.

Does anyone know what the reagent chemical is?

I feel ya, I use the same syringe on calcium and only calcium every time and don't know how I would have gotten anything in there. I will say I contacted Red sea about an alk test well within expiration date being off, and just went in circles for a few days. I'll be ordering nyos or salifert tests from now on for calcium and mag, and will switch to Hanna for alk.

That's funny I liked their customer service. I lost a measuring spoon and they sent it for free. I only use their calcium and nitrate test kits because they are my favorite that I've tried. I havent tried salifert calcium but I'm sure good, I use their mag and alk. I am not a fan of their nitrate test kit at all though. Red sea pro is way better.
