Can i get a couple opinions on what color you all think this is. Im getting a little upset with this new test kit, between the PH and nitrate chart its a major guess to what the true reading is.
Im calling this close to the 10ppm color. Please let me know what you think.

What color temp of light are you viewing this under? I had changed many of our kitchen lights to 10K daylight bulbs, so the colors on the test kits looked a little off. They are designed to be viewed under Cool White lighting (color temps 3K-5K).

BTW- the closest color IMO is around 20

Thank you for your reply.. im just sitting at my kitchen island inder two pendent lights when the pic was taken. This very reason is why im not sure i like this test kit. All of my other parameters are spot on but i can't seam to get the nitrate down. If your guess is correct its worse then i thought.

Cool thank you everyone.. i guess my next step is to get rid of the wet dry sup and get my fuge set up so i can get this nitrate down.

Yeah, looks like a notch under 20 to me.

How come my Red Sea Nitrate test kit comes with a color wheel to compare? Is yours an older kit or something?

Hmmm... I have the same kit he does (mines probably about 2 years) but the only RS kit I have ever seen with a color wheel is the phosphate pro.

Most of the RS tests I don't have a problem with but that one sucks for precision. Such a big gap between colors and you are supposed to guess a color. For the original post I would say about 18. Sometimes I do the high range test to sometimes get more readable results. Think that is same test except 1ml tank water and 4ml RODI water.

Looks to be just a tad under the 20.

I have the same.I may be wrong, but I think there are 2 types, the pro comes with the wheel.

Yeah didn't think about that and didn't realize there was a pro nitrate... his and mine are the ones included in the "marine care test kit". I have a single phosphate pro and it has the wheel. I'll have to look at getting a nitrate pro or some other kit like salifert. The phosphate pro also has some pretty big range gaps in the wheel where your supposed to guess. So much so I usually use my hanna tester.

Yep, Nitrate Pro is what I have. Good kit if you're Nitrates are in the low-range. I have the Salifert too but prefer the Red Sea for NO3
