Red Sea Coral Pro Experiences wanted please!

Who uses red sea salt? have you had success with it or have you had failure with it???

I posted this in your tank thread, but figured I'd post it here too.

It crashed my tank, killed 40 different Chalices and a bunch of other corals.

High silicates caused a dinoflaggeleate outbreak, which caused corals to die, which lead to a year long battle with hair algae and cyano that I have yet to beat.

I have not personally used it but my buddy had problems while using this salt. If I remember correctly it is very high in alkalinity.

I use it and never had a problem. It is natural salt not synthetic. Why would a company like this sell defective products. I have been using all there products for quiet some time and have had excellent results.

I heard someo.e else say that it caused gha for them too... Was curious if there was truth to that because I have been battling gha for awhile now

ive seen alot of people say they like it and have no problems. but then Ive seen other say there is a lot of gunk in it that just floats around and that it can be cloudy.

The only reason I've never tried it is because of the high alk. 12-13 dkh is the numbers I got from locals that have used it. I prefer mine in the 8-9 range.

I have used with great success on my sps 150 gal, not cloudy if mixed properly a little ahead of time. My alk remains a stable 8.0 so not high in alk in my opinion. It is higher in Mag than other salts as I have not had to add mag in months and my mag stays at 1400.

I have done my second 25 gallon water change using Read Sea Pro, I switched from RC and so far I like the Red Sea better.

The Red Sea mixes clearer faster and has higher Alkalinity, Calcium, and Magnesium.

I have been using Red Sea salt for over a year. I have had no issue whatsoever. I do use half Pro and half regular. The Alk with straight Pro is too high. With the half and half mix I will get about 9-10 kh, 1300 Mg, and 400-425 Cal. I dose to get 1340 Mag and 450 Cal. I do get a brown residue in the mixing tank about a month after cleaning it. I have a 25 gallon potable water container. I have a heater and maxijet for flow. The water tank is in a shaded area...

I use it and I just mix in a 5 gallon with a maxi jet in there and lid closed and 24 hours later (usually how I do it), and it mixed fine and right up to temp...

There are 2 different salts. One regular Red Sea and the other Pro. The pro is the one with the higher alk.

I use a 44 gallon Brute can with a Mag Drive 5 to mix, I also have a 200 watt heater to warm the water.

I use red sea coral pro, mixed with a maxijet 1200 on circulation mode. I do 5 gallons at a time, and mix it for about an hour. Mine leaves a brown residue also.

Well getting my first 175g bucket Tuesday of the Pro. Switching from IO reef, so i shall see how it turns out.
Mix in 44g brute 16 hour timer, on during day off at night (since its cooler) have no heater in mine stays at 67 and when im about to do a 10% change ill heat it up ...I would think the water would would stay better at a cooler temp,but im just assuming

I researched it and seems like it would be better then the synthetic salt..
