Red Sea coral salt mix

I have been using Red Sea coral salt for a few months now and I love it, I switched from instant ocean to Red Sea and the difference is great but recently I have been having issues with it. Keep in mind I haven’t changed my routine, I have been mixing the same way since I bought it...but recently I was starting to get cloudy mixes and I did some research and solved that problem, but now whenever I mix up a batch (5 gal) when it’s done mixing it almost has a green tint to the water. I don’t remember there ever being a green tint but I’m wondering if that’s normal and if not then what could be causing it? I am in the last 25% of the mix. I never dry mix it before adding but I recently started because that’s why I was getting cloudy mix but could I already be too deep into the salt mix that dry mixing does no good?

What do you mix the water in? Older bucket? Could it be the light?

Otherwise it could be impurities in the salt or the bucket, even possibly algae growth if there are nutrients.

Perhaps try a different bucket and take a look in diffused daylight to rule that first.

I mix it in a clean white 5 gal bucket, the ro/di water that I use looks clean and clear...I don’t believe it’s the lighting, I’ve looked at it in several different rooms and outside and it’s still the same grennish tint. Also I thought maybe it was algae growth of some sort but I mixed up a batch yesterday and I mixed it for 45 minutes with a power head in the bucket and it still had the greenish tint.

First off we need to know the "source" of your water .... tap, well, rodi....?

could be rust coming from your source water

I'd do a total water test on just a new batch of mix.

I’m using RODI water and I planned on running a test, I have a Red Sea test kit and I’m waiting on replacement syringes
