Hello everyone.

I'm after a little bit of guidance please.

So I use red sea foundation powders
And from what I understand about dosing alkalinity and calcium are supposed to be pretty much the same amount dosed ?

Why does red sea alkalinity make up 10 liters but calcium only makes up 1.8 litres ?

How can I dose 1:1 with 8.2 litres less calcium?

Or have I understand some wrong ?

I used to dose Red Sea and Alk was a higher %.
Here's an example off their recipe wizard.

I dont think it is that cut and dry though. Go by what your tests tell you. It should level out what you you need to dose to maintain. Imho

Yep, test both for a week or two and dose according to what you measure. Then once you have a baseline, you can reduce the testing while still dosing daily.

If you get an automatic dozer, can spread the dosing out to maintain more stability all day.

It's 100% going to be dependent on your baseline and what consumption rates your tank has. No, I don't think the 1:1 ratio really holds true, at least not for me. I'm dosing 30ml alk and 12ml calcium of Red Sea foundation liquids.

Dosing does require accurate and often testing to determine the right dose amounts for your tank.

It does. Also gets pretty hot. I used to put a bowl in another bowl of ice water when mixing to keep it from going into a thermite burn.
I mixed mine today, just want to know if I did it right. I mixed 550g with 1L RO water. After mixing the water was about 1.2L is the concentration still right?
