Hi, I've filled up my Red Sea e-260 with a custom sump, set the nozzle so it's silent and have done the power outage test.

When doing the power outage test, the water drains into the sump perfectly fine without overflowing the sump...

The problem I have is when I switch the power back on because the water in the sump is not returning to the display.

I've noticed it's doing this because water in the display tank is going through the dual pump intake vents so the back chambers are filling straight away and the water is going straight down the overflow pipe before it fills the display section and reaches the weir at the top of the tank.

On reefers, it doesn't have these pumps or intakes so the water coming from the return pipe goes straight into the display tank and fills it until it reaches the weir?

How am I supposed to get my tank to fill up after turning power off without actually fully closing my overflow valve every single time I turn my return pump off? Thanks.

Shouldn't the sump return pump discharge directly into the display?

Did you use this manual to figure out the piping changes?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same issue with the same tank.
