Hi

I am currently dosing 120ml of Red Sea Foundation B liquid daily and it is starting to get expensive.
I have a 1000L tank (before rock displacement)

Red Sea state that

Liquid supplement: 1ml will raise the Alk level of 100 liters (25 gal) by 0.036 meq/l (0.1dKH)
Powder supplement: 1g will raise the Alk level of 100 liters (25 gal) 0.12 meq/l (0.33dKH)
1 kg will make 10L of stock solution.

I tried to work this out on a spreadsheet but got lost o_O

If someone is able to assist me in working out how much of the powder derived liquid I would need to dose please, that would be much appreciated.
Thankyou in advance

I would consider the bulk reef soda ash. A 8 or so dollar packet makes a gallon of alk liquid. I used to.use red sea alk but this is so much cheaper. ME alk is also priced well

Unfortunately I cannot use anything from BRS, as I am in the UK and sadly they do not ship internationally :(

Anyway if 1g raises 0.33dKh, and you do 1000g/10l, then 1l has 100g, 0.1l has 10g, 0.01l has 1g and 0.001l (=1ml) has 0.1g in it.
that means that 1ml will raise the alk 0.33dKh/g * 0.1g = 0.033dKh.

While 1ml of liquid RS will raise 0.1dKh

And 0.1dKh / 0.033dKh ~= 3.

So in conclusion the powder is exactly 3 times less potent, so you’ll have to dose 3x120 = 360ml of it to achieve the same Kh.
