Red Sea = Lexus, Elos = Tesla, etc.?

I'd check out Crystal Dynamic Aquariums as well as Crystal Reef Aquatics in the US if you are looking for custom at a reasonable price. The tanks will be more robustly build (e.g., euro-bracing), cut to the shape you want, and built on a metal stand with framing of your choice. Red Sea Tanks, by contrast, are build on a synthetic something stand with an epoxy resin. They are pretty - but don't soak them in water.

I’d personally disagree with CRA. Had a sump built that was remarkably poor craftsmanship, as was the response/ “resolution”. Maybe their glass is better than the acrylic.

Aqueon: Toyota (looks ugly but lasts long)
There’s a couple more that I have related to cars but there a bit more obscure. If you want to know my reasoning or question anything don’t be afraid to say. But as a car enthusiast and a glutton for research long fishtank brands I think I have a pretty good gist.

Okay so I absolutely 100% don't want to offend anyone. Nor do I want to come off in any way other than humorous. When comparing brand loyalty I cannot think of two topics (short of Coke and Pepsi) more ready for a fun/contentious debate than automobiles and aquariums. That said, we are all here and love our tanks and many of us also love cars so why not play along - remember, just for fun here gang....to my lambo loving friends I must respectfully disagree.....lol

I've got my vote in for my two fav's:

As some one currently in business school It is hard to make an exact comparison. True brand positioning requires more than just a luxury aspect but also a dependability and performance aspect. I will also point out that many manufactures are regional. Being in AZ. I have never seen a reef savvy tank since it would be ridiculous to have one shipped from Florida when there are plenty of good manufactures on the west coast. Here are my comparisons.

Elos = Porsch. Looks nice most agree price is based on style rather than performance and difficult to get parts and service in the US.

RedSea = Lexus. Nice but a teir below elos in finish. It does have much more wide spread US support and parts availability.

Water Box = BMW. I feel the quality is similar to Red Sea but there seems to be a public impression it is better quality. The us presence is less than RedSea by far but still greater than Elos.

Aqueon = Jeep. Rugged but poor finish. I have never heard of a leaky aqueon. Huge US presence.

Marineland = Kia. Economy brand with some history of failures but generally works.

Reef Savvy, Planet Aquariums, Crystal Dynamics = Dodge not crazy expensive but high performance and US made. These are all regional and likely only one or two will be present in your region.

Red sea's more like a toyota. Most of you saying lambo's and ferraris have probably never driven one. Both are junk in the city and uncomfortable.

Porsche and Bently's is where its at. Or a 800 horse Burban from henn if you like embarrassing people.

Maserati has been the funniest car I’ve driven. That’s why I put it as reef savy.

Aquariums and cars both drop in value incredibly fast. In my mind the comparisons stop there.
Reef tanks don’t have enough cultural relevance, to have any equivalencies to cars when it comes to brand positioning.

Good to know - the more data the better. I have a friend who had a great experience with them. Perhaps they have 'upped their game' recently.
