I have a Reefer 450 D, love the setup but not thrilled with the main valve that controls the volume of water going to the sump. Has anyone successfully replaced it with something smoother and more controllable? What parts are needed ?

There are folks who have taken 1" schedule 40 PVC, sanded it a little, and glued it into directly into the bulkhead coming out of the bottom of the tank into the sump area. Just keep in mind that if you do that, you won't be able to disassemble things as easily as you can now. I have a Red Sea 525 and I've contemplated doing it myself, but I'll need to order a spare set of pipes from Red Sea before I take it on just in case there are problems.
