So my idea is to upgrade my light by taking out 4 of the t5 light and putting one of thought cheap leds that are on eBay. So my question is do you think it would melt the led if I had two t5 going at the same time

I replaced two of the t5's with the euroquatic E5 cool daylight retro LEDs and love them. They slip right in. Tank is running a consistent 78-82f and the only complaint I have is that euroquatic never has their pure actinic lights in stock. Little pricey but worth it, imo

Look into the DIY forum here and I'm sure you'll find a thread on how to do this and what kind of LEDs to use
