I have been running a 29 Bio Cube and
want to upgrade to a larger setup. What Is
the reviews on a Red Sea setup all In one unit or other company. What are pros and cons of shallow reef tank setups like a nano ? I have a 130 gallon fresh water aquarium complete with stand and canopy wit led lighting just concerned of project of drilling out tank or putting a overflow off back of tank and the size which is long and tall tank 130 gallon. Seems like a big jump from a 29 gallon biocube. I thought a 65 gallon red sea would be smaller transition. Plus maintenance and water change would be smaller with 65 gallon. Any help suggestions and direction for a beginner would be greatly appreciated.

I personally don't like all in one unites because there is no place to put equipment. But if you want a good all in one unit I would recommend Red Sea.I would recommend DIY because you have more control how yore system will look and function.

I
had a JBJ Nanocube 28 gallon and switched to a 65 gallon RSM 250, I went from changing 1 bucket/week to 2 buckets/week. It's really not too bad and the increase in real
estate is nice.

Hello
Thanks for your input guys. I am still on the fence gonna give it some time to think and research. May be leaning more towards Red Sea max c 250 65 gallon tank. Like you said from one bucket to two and bad going from one to six is a big jump. Even though I have 130g tank cabinet and canopy it still will take a lot of work and money to buy everything else. And all maitance is a lot more with bigger tank.

Drilling out holes is very easy and allows you a lot of options to plumb, plus a larger tank is much more stable...

So what equipment and brand do I need to setup my 130 gallon fresh water tank which is not drilled out ?? Protein Skimmer, Sump size, pump gpm, I have canopy with lights in it, have heaters in tank, and where can I get good rock last live rock I got from LFS was not so smooth to attach corals to. What goes in sump ? I see some put mud in section. Was thinking of getting a aquarium company in to setup for me and get me started I a in Long Island NY anybody know anybody out here ?? Thanks

Also my tank is pretty deep it is going to be hard to work all the way on bottom with corals and I imagine getting proper lighting all the way down there. Am I better off getting a shallow reef ready tank and or tank ??
