Hey!
I am going to buy a Red Sea Max E 170 to start my first reef. It has a volume of 170lt (43gal)
I was thinking of stocking it with the following:
1) Coral Beauty Angelfish (1)
2) Ocellaris Clownfish (2)
3) Dracula Goby (1)
4) Pistol shrimp (1)
5) Bangai Cardinals (2)
6) Pistol Shrimp (1)
7) some Nassarius snails
Am I overstocking:(?
Also, could I add a cleaner shrimp? I read that pistol shrimps will eat smaller shrimps and I saw a video of one eating a cleaner shrimp!
Last, I'm planning to have some corals. Is the angel reef-safe?
Thank you in advance!

I don't feel that is overstocked. The Coral Beauty will likely be reef safe but some individuals are not. It is hit or miss.

Not sure about the pistol shrimp, I've never even looked into getting one.

Your bio load would probably be fine as long as you have a good amount of filtration and/or keep a regimented water change schedule. Just add them in stages, not all at once.

I would probably add the cleaner first and let him cultivate mass before adding a smaller pistol. The pistol may one day kill the cleaner, or it might not. The internet has tons of accounts from people who’ve kept them together successfully and others who have not.

There are no guaranteed reef-safe centropyge. If you’re willing to risk it, you’ll just have to try it for yourself and have a plan if the fish nips your corals.

Almost nothing is guaranteed in reefing, everything is a gamble - that’s part of the fun!

Good luck!

It looks like the display volume is about 37 gallons, and only about 2' wide. I wouldn't put a coral beauty in there. There are a couple smaller Centropyge angels, like the flameback, but that might still be a stretch..in my opinion.
