First of, all a blessed new year.

Secondly,
Asking for a friend!!

Info please on a Red Sea Max E series 170 with sump?

Pics, and who’s running one?

What's up and Happy belated new year to you!!

I’m not running that specific redsea tank, but I do have the peninsula redsea tank.
My impressions.
It’s a nice tank, but not good for people that like to add lots of thing or modify their sumps/filtration. The sump is glass, which makes it heavy, and virtually unchangeable. There is plenty of room for a skimmer of your choice, but with where my skimmer is, it’s hard to access the fuge. You’ll also need a skimmer stand because the water level in the sump is set, for the most part, and pretty high.
I bought the system with the Hydra’s, but switched them to radians with the t-5 hanging kit. I like it, but it’s tons of light.
The tank itself is very nice, but I’m not sold on the rimless one yet. Water splashes over the lip very easily when working in the tank or cleaning the glass with a magnet. The overflow was unlike anything I’ve ever used before, and while it’s a little tricky to dial-in, I’ve actually liked it. However, it would be difficult to swap for a custom, as the pipes come prethreaded. The filter socks aren’t great, but once you figure out a cleaning routine, they work just fine.
I added a large filter pad between the drains and the filter socks because they were filling up way to quickly with debris.
Overall, this is a really good set it and forget tank, but if you are heavily involved and like to customize things, I’d go with a more custom tank. I’ve even considered pulling out the sump and having an acrylic one built that better fits what I’d like to do. Hope this helps.
