I have just joined Reef2Reef after a while of floating and I have just set up a second hand Red Sea e260 that I brought through my LFS. I am new to the hobby and have just upgraded from a 7-gallon nano. My tank is in the process of cycling and I am wondering whether this stocking list sounds ok? I am open to any suggestions or edits. Will have some pics soon.

2 clownfish
Firefish
Royal gramma
2 Bangaii Cardinals
Blenny (not sure which one yet)
Diamond goby
Purple tang (was going to be yellow but heard that they are being banned now?)
Mandarin
Six line wrasse

This will be the order I will be adding them.

Probably to many fish for that size tank. I have the XL300 and maxed out with 9 fish many the same as your choices. Mandarin can't compete with a 6 line for pods and will starve. You would need something like a pintail wrasse that does not eat pods if you want a Mandarin. I feel the tank is no way big enough for a tang either. I had a bristletooth in mine and it struggled due to the 36 inch size.

What would your recommended stocking list look like?
Well most of your fish are fine. You really have to QT everything especially clowns. They always bring disease into a tank. Skip the tang. Go with a pintail fairy wrasse instead of the 6 line. Then when your tank is established about a year old you can consider adding the mandarin.

I currently have the following in 80g system:

Rohmboid wrasse
6 line wrasse
Blue streak cleaner wrasse
Yellow coris wrasse
Pintail fairy wrasse
Indigo dottyback
Fangtooth blenny
Tailspot blenny
Purple fire fish

Tried adding a yellow watchman goby recently but the neighborhood would not let him in the reef and I had to return him. All the fish I have though get along very well.

Will a pintail fairy wrasse still eat parasites and pests?

I’m in the same boat; trying to find a smallish, laid back pest eater. I have a sixline in my evo that hasn’t caused issues yet. He’s an excellent pest eater, even eats bristle worms. I just don’t want to put one in my 65 and then struggle to catch it if need be.

I’ve been contemplating the pink streaked wrasse for pest control. They are smaller and considered to be one of the most peaceful wrasses. But I’ve seen mixed reviews on pest control.

thanks
thinking this stocking list might work?

2 clownfish
Firefish
Royal gramma
2 Bangaii Cardinals
Lawnmower blenny
yellow head goby/ywg pistol pair
One spot Foxface
Mandarin
pink streaked wrasse

Would a blue line cleaner wrasse work for parasites?
Mine doesn't seem to search the tank for them but sure does clean them off other fish. Cleaner wrasses can be difficult to keep alive though. They typically need large fish they can graze on.

You can try it if your filtration system is maxed. Maybe go yellow coris wrasse instead of the pink streak. My Yello coris hunts pests all day but is peaceful and he might not out compete a mandarin like a 6 line will.

Keep in mind you need at least a year old tank to try and support a mandarin effectively long term. Sustained pod population even for the ones that eat frozen
