I just bought one of these nifty tanks. and im having a hard time figuring out where the protein skimmer needs to be. Right now i have the bubbles topping out just above the collection cup. It is in the break in/cycle period. opinions??

Congrats on your new Red Sea Nano :)

Between your new setup and a brand new skimmer. You have low organics in the water column and the skimmer is still breaking in.

I like to leave a skimmer off during the cycle to keep all the goodies in and it's just really hard to dial a skimmer in on a new setup.

That's what i figured. I put Dr. Tims in on Wednesday, so I'm going to stop and pick up some new testing kits after work and hopefully start adding soon.

Are you dosing ammonia to start the cycling process?

my red sea skimmer took a couple weeks to finally break in fully. Use the needle valve on the air line and hardly let any air in.

That was a good read. Its been maybe 5 years since my last tank setup. Couple little details that slipped my mind.
