Completely random and likely way out enquiry although am sure am not the only individual (I hope) to ask.
A Refugium i have read is advised to have a volume at least to be that of 22% of the display tank, so has any attempted to turn the rear sump into a Refugium particularly if can rig an appropriate light source? Ie the e170!has rear sump capacity at 8gal and display at 37gal.
Access obviously a bugger but considering as a possible short term option and then look at the in cabinet sump.
Thanks in advance

I don't think many have tried it, that part of the rear sump is for recirculation and increased flow. Its more of a closed loop return than it is a sump. I don't think those pumps would operate well with debris in them. I have the 500 and would go with sump or even creating a separate area for the sump.

Wondering if you have tried this or not?? I would think the light would shine right through the separation panel between the sump and display.
