Red Sea Max S-400

I think I may have posted in the wrong forum, but wanted to update this forum as well. My father it looking to pull the trigger on this tank, and wanted to see if there are other people that currently have it, and if they have any feedback. He's new in the hobby, wanted something big, and I feel like this is a good package to get him into the hobby.

Any pics, suggestions/feedback would be much appreciated.

Is an area in the sump where you can place some macro algae with a light. I can't get any good clear pics of the sump that is provided with this tank.

@GoVols has one of the nicest S-400s.

Check out his thread. I'm not sure if he was starting over if he'd do the S-400 or a Red Sea Reefer. They make great tanks, no right or wrong answer on the model. Just what fits best.

The RSM S-400 is not discontinued? Unless it happened In the past week or so, if so that's pretty disappointing

...I was just told by my LFS that they couldn't order it b/c it's been discontinued...I just called Red Sea, and they informed me that the Max S-400 has NOT been discontinued. It is good to be ordered!!! Wahoo!!

Lol that's what I thought, The RSM S-400 LED has only been out for a couple years I couldn't see them discontinuing them that quickly. Beautiful Tanks!

Does anyone else on here have one? Curious as to everyone's experience with them. To me it looks like a great tank, will give my dad the room he's looking for to have a good amount of corals and fish, and has a really nice sized footprint.

Seems most people have the Reefer Series, so any assistance would be much appreciated.!

On a side note, maybe your LFS was thinking you were specifically looking to get the original S-400 which is discontinued and was replaced with the S-400 LED. Only difference is the new one comes with the AI hydras instead of the T5 but maybe your LFS thought you were looking for the T5 version specifically which is why they said it was discontinued... ... just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt

I’ve got the 2016 S 650 which is the same principal but just bigger and they are stunning.

The main point with them is that everything is self contained and hidden away so they are a beautiful piece of furniture in your home and no wires or anything else hanging out or pumps etc showing.

They are not cheap unfortunately but you get what you pay for. Aluminium frame in the stands, 15mm glass etc etc. And you can swap things if you want to later.
