I'm thinking about purchasing a Max-S 500, but my problem is that it's going between a window and a wall.
The space between the wall and the tank is around 5 or 6 inches. The manual states that I need 24 inches on the
right side to access the main drain valve on a as needed basis. Where is this valve? Is it on top of the tank right side?
Trying to see if I can reach it from the front. I need to see one in person.

I have 59 1/2 inches to play with. Would love to fit a 59" 625 tank there. The reefer tank specs. state, that I need only access on one side,
which I do have. But, 1/2 play is not much. Though, it could sit a little in front of the window. The blinds are always closed.
But, my wife not want that.

My other option is putting the tank between the kitchen and family room using a peninsula tank.
the only down side is hanging the lights in the ceiling. Putting holes in a textured ceiling are non-repairable.
Another wife issue.

any help will be appreciated.

first welcome to reef2reef! so you only have 1/2 inch from the wall the tank would sit? I'm just trying to picture how this would look. 1/2" isnt a lot so I personally wouldnt put it there. If you would want to put a mp40 on the side then I dont think it will fit. Do you have any pictures of the area. More of a visual person.

The clock is being moved. So the tank will be from the right side of the window to the wall.

the 1/2 inch would be for the 59 inch 625 XXL. I only need access on one side. So going against the wall would work.
the max S-max. Needs 24 inches on both sides. I have only 5 inches on each side.
if centered.

Also thanks for the welcome. I’m retiring in 2 months. So o have plenty of time for being a devoted reefer.

Why does it need 24 inches on the sides? I think I might be missing something here. You can place it where you showed me. The only thing that might be difficult is cleaning the sides but really not an issue. I have my tank where I cant access the sides just the font. It is a little annoying but not that big of a deal. I am getting a new tank and moving it so I can access everything except the back.

Maybe move the tv over to the other wall and center the tank against the wall with the window. Just keep the blinds shut? I dont know how much of an issue it would be since the back of the red sea tanks are black. Wont let a whole lot of light in.

For the max S tanks, the valve is on the bottom right corner of the tank going into the stand. The flow control valve, emergency drain, and return plumbing is all in that spot. I have 19 inches between that side of the tank and the wall.

The other, reason for so much space being needed to the side is to install the trim pieces onto the front of the tank.

On an aside, a half inch between tank and wall could damage the wall pretty bad over time.I would likely look at something custom or lighting options for the peninsula

I'm now looking into the reefer models. Which only need good access on one of the sides. Why would 1/2 inch damage the wall? Humidity or the cabinet doors knocking into the wall? I could make it 2 inches.

TV is unmovable. Wall mounted. I could put the tank in the another room, with unlimited space (in comparison).
But, the tank is going where we spend our time. A little crowded with all the adult toys.

Humidity and water spray getting onto the wall over time. 2 inches would be better.
