Hoping someone out there has some insight. I recently bought a complete apex system with a COR 20 and COR 15, new 57 UV sterilizer and I want to upgrade and hard plumb everything. I was told that the red sea main drain is 40mm and the return is 32mm. I recently purchased 1 and 1/4 inch pvc and want to switch everything to that. I used calipers and my readings came to an external dimension of 42mm and 32mm. I am not worried about the overflow drain yet, but for the return , how do I go from the 1/4 to the 32mm ? The adaptors I bought at Bulk reef are not for a 32mm outer diameter?

#1 don’t hard plumb the return to your pump. You want flexible line to keep vibrations quite.

If you want to adapt pvc use the adapter here. Just unscrew the nipple part and thread in what ever you want. It fits a 3/4” PVC pipe.

There are other ways but the above are the easist.

Yeah, I am trying not to reduce it down to 16mm. Thats pretty small of a choke point

If you look close at the connectors already on the tank. They are identical and so is the restriction inside them. Trust me.. been down this path on my 625. The stock plumbing is just glued to the outside of those adapters.

Also, your NOT using the 16mm nipple. Your removing it.
