Is it just me, did I get a bad kit or has anyone else noted that the colors on the comparison chart look nothing like the colors you get when testing? The colors on the wheel are more pink while the colors I get are more purple. I've resorted to trying to go by intensity rather than the color.

My Salifert doesn't have the lower range increments but it's much easier to differentiate for me.

I know that RS changed their Nitrate formula a while back. Are you using a refill? If so, the old color wheel might not be applicable any more..

They are different. I’ve used them for years and always go off the intensity rather than the actual color match. Phosphate test is the same way but a little closer on the color match.

I’ve just ordered the NYOS nitrate test kit for exactly this reason. I can’t tell the difference in the colours as they don’t match the colour chart/wheel. I’ve been using the Red Sea Nitrate Pro for around 2 1/2 years now and the new kit is still in date until 2019.

I have been sort of going by intensity which has been posted already.

NYOS is yellow so I’m going to give it ago before I order a new Red Sea kit.
