I ordered a Nitrate test refill. My old test was bought 2 1/2 years ago. The A solution is the same as the old. The B powder is greyish not the same as the old. The C powder is the same.

When I mix to test I keep getting these grey clumps. Is this normal for now?

Not sure if they handle it as they might direct you straight to Redsea for CS.
Stuff like that you better of to get it local, if something is up then tomorrow you had a new test kit.

I had this grey lump thing on the original kit i bought.
Bought a refill, no more lumps.

While I'm here I like to add; include the large syringe in the refill RedSea; the graduation lines rub off.

Were do you store the kits? Could be moisture making it clump?

So true. Sometimes it's just not easy for me to get into FJW.

I need to look at Aqua Aquarium. They are a newer store on Jones rd. close to 290.

Either way I'll call both BRS and RS today. Thank.

Oh by the way the brain you sold me is really cool. It has some pinks and red among the blue/green. I love it.

The powder is dry. It's stores away from the tank.
Humm that is strange. I now us a magnetic stirrer for test and when the B reagent hits the mix there is a grinding of the partials for a second or two before the dissolve. I wonder if the clumping is caused by the way the compound is mixed.

I've been using the product for 2 1/2 years this is my first refill. It is definitely different. Is your B reagent grey in color?

So I got a new refill. I exchanged the new B reagent and did the the test. There was a little bit of grey particles. Then I used the old B reagent and I got more grey particles. But what was astonishing was the different in results color. The darker color is the new B reagent. The particles dissipate over time.

my reagents are white but I get some grey particulate at times.

I dont think that it is a huge issue, I just try to make sure I follow their mixing protocols and I have less issue.

testing nitrate is kind of a drag with the long wait and then the super subjective color matching

I recently purchased a Red Sea Nitrate test kit for the first time and get the grey precipitate in every test. I did a little looking around and it seems to be a fairly common occurrence, Red Sea says it's normal. This is one of my google searches:

https://www.google.com/webhp?source...ie=UTF-8#q=red+sea+nitrate+test+precipitation

There are links there to posts in other forums on the issue. What looks like a Red Sea representative replies in the top link that I get with that search.

I don't like it, but I haven't found any real evidence that it leads to inaccurate tests.

Well I wrote BRS and this is the response I received. [emoji106]
Excellent customer service.
