got the new red sea ato+ in the mail today. the hope that it would be far quieter than the Tunze osmulator, but no! this one dries and wines this one too. the possible reason is my thin bucket that acts as a reservoir. Anyone have a different experience? everything else in the aquarium is 100% silent

I just got mine running today and it's not silent. I have mine in a reservoir next to my 525xl G2 and I can hear it when it runs. However, it's not something that is totally annoying. I'm hoping over time the amount of time it turns on will be in very short spurts.

Bummer timing, Tunze has come out with a real nice little peri pump now for their ATO.
I for one want a loud ATO pump after about 15 minutes of annoying me I finally figure out my tank is about to to overflow.

Set mine up today. Noise is noticeable. It sits under my tank in my living room. I can hear it 10 feet away. Disappointed seeing as it cost $200. Expected it to be silent

Tunze ATO is louder when it touches something e.g. the base of my water container.

It is however much quieter once you lift it up because there isn’t anything to transmit the vibration/sound (as much).

I suspend the pipe and cable using a cable tie using a plastic lid. The lid has a slot for the cable/tube with two holes drilled either side. I used a cable tie to set the height above the base to be about 1/2”.

The volume when it runs is no longer annoying when suspended. If I had a 3D printer I could imagine something more elegant but at least what I have works (solves the problem).

Harry's Aquatics makes a good stand for it. If I remember correctly, it has suction cups as feet to help kill some noise. I have them in both my ATOs.

Hi, yeah not completely silent, you will notice if you listen close. The reservoir does make a difference, I tested it in a plastic 5g bucket before this 5g trigger systems ATO reservoir with thicker acrylic wall, it helped with the sound a bit but there is still a small hum when its running.

Does the Harry’s one work worth the Red Sea? I only see Tunze.

Like the photo above, I started with the ATO+ mounted on a wall above my Sump Area and not in a “dry” chiller compartment.

At the time, I was experimenting with using a heater/stat with my separate controller. The ATO+ was affected by the humidity in the Sump area and I had mild shocks when putting hands in Sump or DT.

I reverted to a Titanium heater that is earthed but not before relocating the ATO+ into the chiller area. Shocks reduced but not eliminated until tank was earthed.

As noted, this is saltwater only for the probes and ATO function to work (needs conductivity).
