I would like to switch 2 part dosing to the red sea reef care program. I just want to check my math on how much I should be dosing when I switch and have one question about the color elements. My tank is 29g with about 22g of actual water just for perspective.

My current calcium suppliment is 10ml/140L raises calcium by 10 ppm

The Red Sea calcium is 1ml/25gal raises calcium by 2ppm....

So with some conversions the Red Sea would be roughly 1.5ml/140L would raise Ca by 2ppm

Im currently dosing Ca at 3ml/day so with the Red Sea Ca I would dose 2ml/day?

Is this math correct?

Second question is how often do I need to dose the color elements. You are supposed to dose 1 ml of each for every 10 ml of calcium dosed. So I could do 1ml every 5 days, 2ml every 10 days, or 3 every 15?

Idealy I would dose them as often as possible but I am away from my tank quite frequently so I want to know what a "safe" time frame would be.

Thanks.

It would be better to check out the triton method.
I have done the red sea route and it can lead to huge troubles

What do you think Randy?

Hi well what I found is that it is too hard to test for all the elements introduced.
if not careful your algae will grow faster than your coral.

I still have the red sea system under my shelf
This is where I became a huge fan of the triton water testing. Nothing but flat proof of what is in your water.
maybe the red sea program including triton water testing??

I too like the idea of the triton system. In the future I think I would like to either do triton or zeovit, but for now the Red Sea system seems the most straight forward. I also just looked into the fauna Marin balling light method. I like the idea that it is similar to the Red Sea program but everything can be dosed with 3 dosing pumps

2.2 mL per day is the equivalent dose of the Red Sea.

As to the Red Sea Colors, I don't know what is in them that is useful for you, but adding less of it more often is rarely a worse plan than adding more of it less often. So your 1 mL per 5 days would be my pick.

Maybe, but trial and error, dosing and seeing if there is a true benefit can also work.
