Red sea reef dose!

every time internet goes out for whatever reason it won't reconnect. you have delete and add again for it to reconnect. PITA but it does save programs.
Happens to me weekly. WiFi isn’t ‘going out’ - the doser just decides to freeze(network wise, all other functions remain active). I know this because I can see it active on my network with an IP assigned even though the app somehow can’t discover it on the network. RS support just say reset the unit weekly/whenever it drops off. Absolute BS from them. No other issues with device connectivity on my network. They’re just too lazy to ID and solve the actual issue. (Don’t talk to me about 2.4ghz etc, I have created a dedicated channel on a 2.4ghz band, just for the the ReefBeat app and associated devices. I 100% believe this issue is firmware related. I have tried 3x different APs and all the same result. The sooner they push a fix the better. 4 channel unit here. ReefLEDs have never disconnected.

In my experience, when the device is only capable of connecting to 2.4ghz channel it’s an indicator that the rest of the smart device experience is going to be very poor. And not just in our industry.

Not that the two are related, but design and budged decisions that lead to one usually lead to the other.

It’s a shame because the actual business end of the hardware is sometimes good. Like the Inkbird controllers and the D-D/Kamoer pumps.

I agree. They cheaped out on the WiFi module & I can bet have little to no vendor support for it. Hence the ‘just reset it’ approach.

yup reset reset rest. Support tells me its my wifi, IT'S NOT

So this just happened to me this morning. I'm at work so I can't do anything about it right now. Hopefully it's still dosing cal and alk and mag. I have the 4 head doser I set it up last week and I already have a problem. So can I reset it here from work? I'm on my company's wyfi . Or do I absolutely have to be home. I also have the X1 xfinity internet. With the modem I rent from Comcast. My apex runs fine but I do notice Comcast does maintenance around 3am here in my aeria. So it probably lost the signal. That's my guess. So how do I reset it. How are you guys doing it? Do I unplug it then plug back in? Any advice would be appreciated

I’m on the fence about this doser and the kamoer. I have read a lot of reviews and most are similar. I have the kamoer fx-stp so I was thinking since I have that app installed I would go for the f4 pro. Any suggestions?

You can’t reset it remotely because it’s dropped off the network. You’ll need to press the reset button that’s on the back of the unit.

I also own the ReefDose 4 and have had the same connectivity drop other members have mentioned. No other devices are having issues so I’m inclined to say it’s an issue with the ReefBeat app or device firmware.

As mentioned earlier, your dosing schedule will continue to run even if it disconnects from the internet. Also, if you need to delete the device from ReefBeat in order to reconnect to the WiFi, your dosing settings are remembered and can be restored easily. New buyers just beware that your “smart” doser may act more like a “dumb” one.

Definitely frustrating. I believe it is the firmware, not the ReefBeat app because both my ReefWave 45's stay connected and are further away from the router (by about five feet). The only way I have been able to establish connectivity is via a hotspot on my phone, which of course drops after I leave the house. I opened a case with Red Sea and they could not find an answer and said it had to be my router since it worked via my hotspot...even though the ReefWaves have no issue.

Ok, RedSea support just contacted me and said “a Firmware update released later this week should address some connectivity issues with routers.” Let’s hope this addresses the problem for all of us bc this doser is otherwise great, like most things RedSea.

I did the update, but it did not resolve the connectivity issue with my wifi. Using a TP Link AX6000 router.

Wow, I just did that firmware update and this is the first time that 1) it worked the first time, and 2) I did it without being 5 feet from the tank (I was two flights up). :astonished-face:
Yea, FiddlersReef, same here. After this latest update (Aug or July 2022), it does seem that RedSea has improved its connectivity. If anyone is having trouble, make sure to update the device firmware and the app firmware (both available through the app) and also that you are on a 2.5Ghz network connection. Like most devices, it isn’t compatible with 5Ghz and will drop frequently. But to reiterate, fortunately, it will continue to run it’s scheduled program, even if it loses connectivity.

Mine is still disconnecting frequently. I have no issues with the reefmat, leds or reefwave staying connected. Super frustrating. I might add, despite the app saying it's disconnected, I can still see it on my router activity connected to my wifi. Strange. Red sea can't help. They just stopped replying.

Hello are the issue solved or not? They continue to run if I disconnected the WiFi at night?

Need help with reefdoser 4. Received notification no connectivity. Went checking it out in the maintenance screen. Accidentally hit add a device. Now i can't get out off the screen. Can't to back to the maintenance screen.
How do i get out of the add device mode?

You will probably need to re-onboard the device. If you only have the ReefDose on the app, you may be able to uninstall\reinstall and give that a go. To onboard the device, you have to press the button on the back and hold it for xx number of seconds (in the manual). If that doesn't work, create a ticket the RedSea, they are pretty good at getting back to you quickly.
