Hey everyone!
I have a water box 220 peninsula. Been reefing 14 years or so.

Decided to take the plunge and move from my beloved and trusty rusting ati 8 bulb fixture and give these awesome Reef LED 90 a go.

I of course had to add an aquatic life fixture, because I mean you CAN’T run a reEF WITHOUT t5s ;) joke intended

Anyways....
getting a little more algae than I’d like. And I am wondering if lighting is a big culprit as tests show water quality pristine. (I ddI just order an icp test, so we will see what it says)

what I would like to discuss is proper lighting time with the reef LEDS.

I was kind of surprised to see their out of box presets, are for as many photo hours as they are!

I currently am only running t5s 4 hours in middle of day.
Been running out of box reef LED 90 20k setting.

corals are all health, looking good and seeing solid growth.

What do you think is the best photo period with these Reef LEDS ?
How long should I run the t5s ?

how high should I have the intensity going on the reef LEDs ?

Would love to see others experience and what you are running and doing !
hopeful it is longer than a few months and you are seeing good results !

Bump, Your tank looks great and i am also curious about these lights.
Ya not enough info out there just yet!
Interested to see if people are running channels on 100 or bumping down.

Also concerns me the em lib if photo period they have as the main setting they come with !

Ha!
I was considering getting an ATI 8 bulb Powermodule and selling my Reef LED 90s!

I have 3 of these lights on my Red Sea Reefer 425. I have a lot of problems with them randomly staying on hours past their scheduled shutoff time.

I run mine at 70% for 11 hours max. The first and last hour are ramps. I run them at 15k and down to 23k for the last few hours of the night. I had considered adjusting them to a higher intensity.

I’m apprehensive about the term “Reef Safe”. If they were, then why have an acclimation mode?

BRS uploaded a video with PAR results. It would be interesting to see others do so.

Ya I love the ati t5 but the coloration I am able to pull with these reef LEDs in my corals is honestly insane in comparison.

Has not been long enough for me to say a comment on growth difference.

I have noticed what you are saying - quite a bit of “connectivity” issues.

How hard was it to mount these lights with the hybrid system? I have the same leds and would like to add some t5 supplements. Looking good!

I’m running 3 of them on my 125 long. I matched my lights with the lfs - 23k. Adjusted them out and set my Moonlight’s. Haven’t had any problems with growth and they’re looking very nice. I’m not sure you need additional lighting. These are pretty strong, I had 165w blackboxs x3 - these crush those in depth and spectrum. The spread is very nice too as I’m sure you’ve figured out. I will post pictures in a few days when my filter kit comes in for mobile pics ☺️

Easy to add! Took a couple minutes longer and I believe I had to go buy machine screws at Home Depot as the Reef LEDs did not come with ones long enough to make it through the brackets of the aquatic life - but they were super simple to find!

Nice! Ya but I am definitely a t5 guy and wanted to have some LOL

I just bought a couple of these for some frag tanks and holy crap are they powerful. They blow my Kessil 360s away. At this point I am a bit concerned they might be over-kill.

Acros are growing great. I have two on a redsea250. Anything of 60% melts.

I have 3 ReefLED's mounted 8" above my 105g DT--SPS dominant. Are you still running your lights at 40%? I have a few acros that are 7" below the water surface and I've been running 80% blues/40% whites and, although they are growing, they are looking a little washed out. I'm considering turning down to 60%/30%, or maybe lower, but interested in your opinion. Thank you!

I have Red Sea 170 with LED 90 Currently run a ramp up to 60% and drop white channel to 10% half way thru cycle (prefer the look when looking at the tank when home).

Thinking of gradually bumping up intensity just need some more info before I do it. Tank stocked with a couple SPS, LPS and a bunch of Zoanthids and everything looks fine.

No problems with this setting just wondering if it is intense enough. However, from what has been previously posted appears I am in the ballpark.

Was it intense enough? I have the same set up and I’m running at 60% as one of my bright green monti caps started turning pale (no3 po4 are in the desired range).
Shop I got it from had a reef led 160 over it at 70% but it was a bigger distance from the light due to increased mounting height and the coral being on the bottom of a frag tank!
