Hello all , a lot has happened since I’ve last posted on here. My first tank was destroyed by what I believe was uronema from a few chromis I added (no quarantine, lesson learned). I manage to save one clown and a few cuc members. Fast forward to now I have this beautiful Waterbox aquarium all ready to go and I’m using a new method of cycling, RSR Mature Pro.

The directions state that I need a skimmer ( I have one it’s also a RSR product), am I supposed to turn it on at the first day of cycling even though it’s only producing bubbles or wait further into the cycle so that it has something to skim?

Anybody familiar with this product could you help me out, sincerely A NervousReefer

I would probably say leave the skimmer off but the instructions in step 1 seem to indicate that you need the protein skimmer so presumably on. It is saying to add Nopox and that requires a skimmer but there’s nothing to skim out so.....

All I can advise is follow the instructions

Alternatively, get a bottle of ATM colony, add it along with some fish and the cycle is done. And it works I’ve used it twice Including on a new 530g system.

I personally wouldn’t recommend anyone to use Nopox on a new system until it’s needed for Nitrate control. If indeed it ever is.

Nice rock work as well by the way

It’s confusing right? I think I’ll leave it off for now. Lol Thanks, it took forever to get the rocks the way I visioned it but it worked out

Yes it’s confusing, I wondered if it was for oxygenation of the water or something but that shouldn't really be needed

You have to remember the products designed for a broad market of reefers, possibly new ones, and maybe that’s the ‘safest‘ way to use the product for most systems.

I did read that it is for oxygenation but I’ve read so much my brain is fried.
