Hey all, new to reefing and am looking at getting a Red Sea Reefer XL 425 for my first marine tank.

I need some guidance on the lighting requirements for a tank of this size:

What I'm thinking of:
2 Kessil a360we (adding additional one if required)
2 Radion xr15w pro (adding additional one if required)
2 Radion xr30w pros(costly and might be overkill)

What I like a like about the Radions:
- Configurability without the need for additional controllers
- Form factor and mounts

What I don't like:
- Disco effect

What I like about Kessil:
- Shimmer
- Diffused light
- Out of the box the spectrum is pre-configured to the optimal one

What I don't like:
- Mounts
- Will need controller to program lighting schedules

Correct me if I have made the incorrect assumptions about the above.

I would like some advice on lighting combinations that would support a soft coral majority tank.

You can grow anything you want really with any of those choices.

If budget is an issue and you don't want that much light two 160 would do fine I think. Four would be a really cool thing to do too.

I would go with Radions.

I keep going back to Radions, looked at AI Hydra 26's but was put of by negative reviews about the wireless issues.

Came across this it's about the elusive diffuser but going into detail about spread and the use of two xr15's instead of one xr30.

You know they are the same company now. Even on AI web page you can see the PAR comparison graphs vs. Radions. Or call Ecotech, very friendly guys.

I had the same dilemma 7 months ago, and decided to call them. I'm happy with my Radions [emoji4]

I know this is an older thread, but preparing to light up my 425 and I currently have 3 kessil 160's that I was planning to start with, I don't have any sticks yet, just LPS and softies, do you think that's adequate?
