Red Sea Reefer 525 sump options

I’m not 100% sure if this is the right forum to post this, but I figured I’d start here. I have a new 525 sump that I don’t plan to use (at least as a sump). I’m plumbing my 525 to a basement 150 gallon Rubbermaid. I was considering mounting it over the sump, drilling it, and running it as a refugium. I was also thinking about mounting it to the side, drilling it, and running it as a frag tank (and just partition the 150 for an internal refugium. I could also sell it (and make a different arrangement for a frag tank if/when I need it). I just don’t have any idea what it’s value may be or if there is any market. I also don’t know how well suited it is for my other ideas.

So I’m wondering if anybody has any thoughts on my options to help me decide, and/or if anybody has any other suggestions.

It would likely work for both the ideas you have, but I myself wouldn't try to use it as a frag tank. Mostly because of all the baffles and such, it would collect debris and be harder to clean than a more traditional tank. It's decently well setup for a refugium; the first chamber could house mud or rubble or the like (or nothing), remove the socks entirely (or not if you prefer), and you have a good macro grow area with a protected pump-out.
I don't know that there's much of a market for 525 sumps specifically, but there's nothing really about it that's Red Sea specific (it could work as a sump for any other tank, in other words).

That’s very helpful, exactly what I was looking to understand. Thank you. Do you think it would make a significantly better refugium then if I were to subdivide the 150? It seems like it might. If so I’ll keep it, otherwise I guess I’ll list it.

I think having a "detached" fuge would allow you to control the flow through that section (higher or lower, as needed) independently of your general sump throughput.
If you were to try and sell it, you would be looking at a local sale (due to shipping issues) - which could be fine, but also might take a while and/or not net you very much. Seems better to use it as a fuge, to me.
