Hello welcome to my build thread, this is my third tank I have started.

Turned on the pumps @ sept 27 2015

Tank Specs:

54 gallon display with 11 gallon sump

-Lifeguard 758 gph pump
-Apex Jr. w/ auto feed
- 2x AI primes
-40 pounds Pukani Dry rock from BRS
-15 pounds live rock
-40 pounds Fiji Pink sand
-Reef octopus skimmer (rated for 50 gallons max)
-BRS Dual Reactor (GFO and Carbon)

Most of the rock I secured to the glass by cutting it flat on the bottom and using silicone to adhere it to the bottom of the aquarium. Then used reef safe epoxy for the rest. Its my first decent size aquascape but I think I did well.

I plan on having LOTS of shrimps! hopefully a blue mandarin down the road, and mostly dominated by LPS coral and definetly a Red Monti Cap. Also a Horseshoe crab hopefully.

Great scape. So you have 3 tanks currently running? Or did you transfer items from another tank.

I shut down the other two nanos I had before I moved and found new homes for all the livestock.

The reactor is mounted on the wall, with the pump in the sump. My protein skimmer is a little undersized for the tank but I have plenty of room.

Have been running that same exact skimmer for about 2 years now and it does do a great job.
If you make the skim slightly more 'wet' then the skimmer will do its job perfectly.

Reef Octopus is my favorite skimmer brand.

;)

Well I have had a string of bad luck with it mostly. I broke the knob to adjust it, then the person I hired to take care of my tank while I'm gone didn't fill the Auto Top off on the right day so as a result the pump burned out. Had a replacement sent and the pump went to the wrong address lol
