Red Sea Reefer 900

Have you checked out the monster tanks forum? What kind of research are you looking for?

Red Sea makes a great tank/system. All designs don't fit all uses- like I would get a real ato.

At last understanding the tanks are US made w US labor.

I own one that is 6 years and going-a 350. When I buy another it will be the 6' peninsula.

No I haven't check that forum but I will look into it. I was just wondering what reefer 900 owners would advise such as equipment and what they think of the tank and if they needed to make any upgrades

Everyone sets theirs up different. I know of setups with skimmers and pumps that cost more than the tank stand combo....but you don't have to do it that way.

Is this your first tank? Any experience with brands you like?-ok if it is.

Some people even ditch the sump to begin with and spend 2-4K on a custom sump.

What do you want the tank to be? fowlr? mixed? softs?

I have the earlier model S650 and was looking into getting a bigger tank

Loving the 900 so far. My only complaint so far, is that the extra sump (the one on the right), has a really low water flow. Feels like the water is stagnant. Need to fix that.

Ive recently started a 900 build. As far as the separate sump goes Im wanting to use it as a frag tank. Obviously that will require flow so I plan to add a small pump near one of the bulkheads to push water in (or out).

As far as everything else goes, I don't have water in it yet (hoping to do that next week or sooner) but Im been impressed by the system. The tank is amazing, the stand looks good and appears to be very stout. I like the sump and the plumbing. It is a very heavy tank/stand as would be expected for a 3/4" glass tank with an all glass double sump. The stand went together easily and with the extra supports shouldn't have the problems that some 750s had in the past.

Obviously the tank/stand is only part of the budget. Ive spent more than twice as much on lights, pumps, skimmer controls etc. I assume that probably goes for all new systems. This will be my first rimless and hoodless tank so ill look forward to seeing how that is.. hope I like it because after spending what I've spent, moving this HEAVY tank into place and reinforced my floor I don't want to have to move anytime soon.
